Philippine immigration mobile counters more friendly to travelers. Former BI Commissioner Marcelino Libanan led the Bureau of Immigration of the Philippines. To launch immigration mobile counters at Ninoy International Airport (NAIA).
They equipped mobile counters set up by the former Commissioner with Wi-Fi-connected laptops. To process immigration documents for the elderly, disabled (PWD) and travelers with infants.
“It often crowded in immigration precincts with travelers during peak hours. Which creates the burden of long queues for the elderly, disabled and travelers with babies,” the commissioner said.
“We have these mobile counters for them to make travel easier and also to ease traffic congestion in immigration areas.”
NAIA BI Airport Operations Director Ferdie Sampol joined former Commissioner Libanan. The BI NAIA Terminal 1 Director Teody Pascual to unveil mobile counters in strategic areas and managed by immigration staff.
“We had a pilot program [on Tuesday] and we’ve had positive feedback from seniors and people with disabilities,” he said.
“Progressive countries like Japan and the U.S. already have this kind of system. It will bring our immigration processing on par with theirs.”
The BI-NAIA Public help Center (BINPAC) also launched during the event to further facilitate the compensation process for arriving passengers.
“BINPAC assists passengers who need special accommodations,” Sampol said.
“Besides the elderly and disabled, the service will serve those with direct family connections, VIPs and dignitaries.”
The head of airport operations added that this will complement immigration mobile counters. Solve the congestion problem in immigration areas during peak hours.
Can foreigners enter the Philippines now?
